Thanksgiving Cupcakes

I've finally been able to settle my life a little bit so hopefully in the coming weeks I will be doing backposts to some of my pinterest crafts I've created in the past. I'll also be posting new crafts as they come so stay tuned!

This one comes just in time for Thanksgiving next week. I decided to make these cupcakes for my son's teacher as an early Thanksgiving treat.

Thanksgiving Cupcakes

Ingredients you will need:
Cupcake Mix (and all ingredients on the package)
Vanilla Cupcake Frosting (depends on how many cupcakes you'll be making)
Cupcake Cups
Runts Candy
Starburst Candy
Food Coloring (red, yellow, blue, green)
Donut Holes
Caramel Drizzle
Corn Flakes
White Candy Melts
Parchment paper
Toothpicks
Piping bags or I sometimes use Gallon zip lock bags
Frosting Nozzle Tips

Bake the cupcakes as stated on the Cupcake Mix Package. Let cupcakes cool before moving onto the decorating portion.

"Me and Jenny goes together like peas and caaaarrots..."

1. Take the vanilla frosting and add green food coloring till it is to your liking.
2. Collect all orange starbursts in your starburst package and cut them into fours.
3. Collect all green apples in your runtz package
4. Frost your cupcake and then skatter your candies throughout the cupcake...

End Result:

"These mashed potatoes are so creamy..."

1. Take the vanilla frosting and add only a few drops of yellow food coloring.
2. Grab one yellow starburst
3.. Frost your cupcake and make sure to leave a little crater in the middle of the frosting
4. Take the caramel drizzle and poor some in the crater
5. Add your yellow starburst on top

End Result:

"Give me the booze, you little pumpkin pie haircutted freak"

1. Take vanilla frosting, this is going to be a little work, but take red, yellow and blue and mix together..you can even use green but you want to come out with a shade of orange/brown. You may have to work at this a few times or just keep adding colors till you like what you see. I always start with the red and yellow first and then move into the darker color, mixing a little at a time.
2. Take vanilla frosting and do the same as step one, this time you want it to come out more crust brown if possible.
3.. Take some of your orange/Brown frosting and frost with a butter knife on a cupcake
4. Take your piping bag and fill with the brown crust frosting.
5. Go around the edges of your cupcake to create a crust look.
6. You can add a small dab of white frosting in the middle to look like whip cream.

End Result:

"Is that a fried turkey leg wrapped inside a burger?"

This is the most difficult so I've included extra pictures...
1. Take vanilla frosting and frost the top of a cupcake.
2. Take a donut hole and sit it on the frosting a little off center
3.. Take some white candy melts and put them in a frosting piping bag (Make sure to not cut the whole for this until after you have done the next step.)
4. Follow the directions to the candy melts in the microwave.
5. Take parchment paper while the candy melts are melting and put a sheet on a cookie sheet.
6. Line toothpicks on cookie sheet while candy melts are melting.
7. Once candy melts are melted, take the melted candy and pour it over the toothpicks to create turkey bone shapes.

8. Place the melted turkey bones into the fridge to harden.
9. Take Vanilla frosting (or if you have any of the brown crust frosting left) and mix more brown frosting. This will be the exterior of your turkey leg so think....turkey leg.
10. Spread with a butter knife all over the outside of the cupcake and the donut hole.

11. Put the frosted cupcake in a bowl or over a plate.
12. Crush cornflakes over the cupcake to give it a fried look.
13. Take a candy bone out of the fridge and place on the donut hole.

End Result:

So there are step by step directions! Feel free to contact me if you need any further information on how things were done! Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
